Volume 12, November 2006

Welcome to November. October’s been such an invigorating relief compared to the previous months. Now we are in Scorpio and things are changing once again as we head towards the HolyDays. The first half of November shows 5 traveling planets in Scorpio. That’s the story. Sun/Mercury/Venus/Mars/Jupiter. This will bring great intensity to all relationships as they will be pressured (by Pluto) to become more or decay. Scorpio inspires us to mean more, to be more. We must be careful to not only look at the timbre of our relationships but to moreover make sure we are at our best. Scorpio doesn’t put up with excuses and its fire burns and hopefully purifies.

I had a major epiphany the other day. It “came to me.” Then I looked up the word “epiphany” and found its roots are Greek for “to show a manifestation.” Interesting. So, I asked, “Just who’s doing the showing?” More to the point, it’s always been clear to me that the last 6 signs of the zodiac (Libra-Pisces) are in many ways the higher octave of the first 6 (Aries-Virgo). Libra has always seemed to be the Aries (its opposite sign) of the second half of the zodiac. What came to me was that it works for all of the signs. Scorpio is indeed the Taurus of the second half, Sagittarius, the Gemini of the world. Capricorn is easily the Cancer (mother) of the world too. Aquarius instead of being bent on self-expression leans towards group expression. Finally, as Virgo’s nature is to help out others on more of a one-to-one basis, this tendency is greatly broadened by its opposite Pisces whom makes it universal. Give it some thought. Now for this bulb stuck in my head.

What brought me to be thinking about Dr. Dyer is all the recent focus here on free will. I finally found a perspective in his “The Power of Intention” book. He says, “Free will means that you have the choice to connect to Spirit or not!” That made sense. Of course, I’d forgotten; it had to be a paradox.

It’s now official: Last month’s proposal to change the calendar to 13 months of 28 days each has been OKed, verified and adopted by the Pope, the Supreme Court, the Trilateral Commission, the UN, and all remaining Mayans. This change goes into effect 1/1/2007 and the name of the new 13th month is to be Thirtember.

Note: You must know your birth time in order to calculate your rising sign. If you do know it, you can run this program from Astrolabe for free to find out what it is:  http://www.alabe.com/freechart/   Once you go through all the steps, the rising sign will be the sign with the intersecting line pointing directly to the left of the chart. It is also listed in the second paragraph in the brief description provided.

We celebrate Scorpio this month. What makes them tick?

This major Full Moon happens with the Moon in Taurus opposite the Sun, Venus, and Mars in Scorpio. This will have major impact on relationships. How much do you value your relationship (Scorpio)? How much do you value yourself (Taurus)? How can you balance the two? Can you keep or enhance your self-worth at the same time maintaining a valid relationship? Those are the questions the Moon raises now.

11/17 Venus enters Sagittarius 3:02am Have fun!

11/17 Mercury goes Direct 7:25pm – Have even more fun as everyone arrives at the party on the same day.

11/20 Uranus goes Direct 1:08am –Uranus will propel us to action. No more holding back; time to implement changes. Much depends on where Uranus is activating in your particular chart (in mid-Pisces). Expect matters that have been delayed to start to resolve themselves, and rapidly. Uranus is famous for chaos and sudden change. Computers may act up for a few days. Don’t be surprised if you hear many people complaining of insomnia. Mainly, this planet symbolizes our effort to break free of old forms and renew ourselves.

Well, ya had to ask me about this right-wing pundit Ann Coulter…

11/22 Sun enters Sagittarius 6:02am – Welcome the Archer! A welcome relief from the Soap Opera of Scorpio!

11/23 Jupiter enters Sagittarius 11:44pm – This wonderful ingress (entry into a sign or house) happens once every 12 years. Jupiter, truly the “good guy” of the zodiac comes home to Sagittarius, where it rules. It will reside there for one year. This extremely fortunate symbol will truly bring fruit to whatever area it touches in your chart. Some things to look for are an increase in faith and optimism and a feeling of expansion and hopefulness, etc. This energy will be felt strongly at first and then we’ll become more accustomed to it for about a one year period. Per sign, I see it generally as:

Aries (Mar 21-Apr 19) – Your pioneering spirit is released now. The urge to travel and expand is great now. Do it. You need to shake off the dust of all the caution and negativity that’s been around you and truly own up to your daring, adventurous nature. If you’ve been considering more schooling in order to broaden your horizons, go for it. Dang, how come so many folks making living so hard, eh?

Taurus (Apr 20-May 20) – Your normal “slow as she goes” nature gets a lift now. You’re feeling encouraged to share assets with another now. Whether this is financial or romantic, now is the perfect time for you to set aside your natural caution and feel encouraged about joining forces with another. Your self-worth is growing leaps and bounds as you engage a wider spectrum of others. Tis a good investment.

Gemini (May 21-Jun 21) – You’re on a high now. Feeling confident with public dealings and optimistic about your ability to commence or improve your relationships. As your self-image starts to feel better, so goes your relationships. Faith and belief are replacing the skepticism that’s been prevalent throughout ’06. Consider the possibilities: a great big green light in the area of romance and flirtation?

Cancer (Jun 22-Jul 22) – Thankfully, this is a great transit for healing if you’ve not been feeling your best. You may even be led to a wonderful caregiver/healer at this time. Mostly, this indicates that you’ll feel optimistic about being able to “get yourself together.” You may also be expanding at work - learning new job skills that will benefit you.

Leo (Jul 23-Aug 22) – “I do” are the keywords for Leo. And I’m not talking about matrimony here. This is truly the time to “do.” Follow-up on your dreams now and launch your big plans. Make that huge bonfire you’ve been talking about. Show the world how if you can dream it, you can do it. They want you to take the lead and let it shine; most just don’t usually have the gumption that the Lion has. I think Mick Jagger does.

Virgo (Aug 23-Sep 22) – Family and home matters are looking better now. Time to cash in some of those hard-earned vacation days and enjoy them with family. Virgo often gets a bad rap for always being at the workplace. I’ve noticed many times where Virgos really enjoy their families. After all, what’s all the hard work for? It’s time for you to enjoy your loved ones and reap the harvest from being such an A#1 provider.

Libra (Sep 23-Oct 22) – This brings a wonderful time for you to do one of your favorite pastimes – learn! Libra is a very intelligent sign and should definitely take advantage of Jupiter’s pass through their solar third house – the house of the mind. Use this to learn a new language, improve your vocabulary, or simply read, read, read.

Scorpio (Oct 23 - Nov 21) – While an astrologer may be tempted to encourage you to play the lotto now, remember that one out of every 12 players is also a Scorpio too. Don’t be discouraged however, this is a great time to increase your net financial worth. More importantly however, this period brings an improved sense of self-worth and optimism to all of your relationships. A bit lighter episode of your Soap Opera.

Sagittarius (Nov 22-Dec 21) – Well, well, well. Jupiter comes home to roost. How welcome! You’ll really be feeling like yourself and be asking everyone, “How come no one laughs around here?!” Huh, Jake? Jupiter brings with it faith and encouragement and mostly a great sense of being happy that you are simply being yourself. Fun is the keyword here, “If it ain’t fun, I ain’t doin it!” Only Sag can get away with that.

Capricorn (Dec 22-Jan 19) – The serious Goat is getting support from on high now. Literally, if this winter sign isn’t too snowed in with tradition, malaise, and gloom, now is the time to start listening to supportive spirit all around you! It doesn’t always come via Fed Ex either. Listen to the trees… watch the river flow… hear your next message in the unlikeliest of places. Capricorns can fool people. Ask and you’ll receive, remember?

Aquarius (Jan 20-Feb 18) – You’re really starting to come into your own here. A great time to travel with friends too. Mostly, this transit indicates that you are feeling optimistic about the highly unique path you have carved for yourself. Not only are you encouraged by seeing good signs along your pathway but others are seeing the wisdom and uniqueness of the path you’ve chosen.

Pisces (Feb 19-Mar 20) – For those of you stuck at your cubicle, at least you’ll feel better. For others, this is your opportunity to find employment more suitable to your dreamy, unrestricted nature. Jupiter will likely reward you at work for all of your selfless efforts. And it may buy you time or bring you good contacts to help you find a new career that is more befitting of your sense of service to others.

-The mating process for two Scorpions (the animal) can take up to 25+ hours. Phew!

-The male Scorpion will generally retreat quickly, most likely to avoid being cannibalized by the female, not a bad idea

-Say what you want for now, Scorpio is still ruled by Pluto, the dwarf-planet

-Charon, Pluto's moon is also the name of the boatman on the river Styx (in Hades) in mythology

-Talk about the powerful Scorpios: Theodore Roosevelt, Pablo Picasso, Bill Gates, Leon Trotsky, George Patton, Daniel Boone, Chiang Kai-shek, Martin Luther, Billy Graham, Saint Augustine, Ted Turner, Dylan Thomas, Claude Monet, Auguste Rodin, Albert Camus, Erwin Rommel, John Gotti, Joseph Goebbels (and on the other hand: Goldie Hawn, Jonathan Winters, John Candy, and Curly)

Dear Kid Astro, What about sayings like: “What got into you?” When one becomes somewhat astute at astrology or even more aware of what the planets are “doing”, one sees that these heavenly motions coincide with waves of feelings that we have. Today’s planets “hit” sensitive points in our birth charts. They line up geometrically with various points. For instance, when Mars lines up, we often feel aggressive. When Saturn hits, we may feel labored. Jupiter, optimistic. Uranus, fed-up and looking to break free, etc. These examples show the tremendous advantage that you have if you know astrology and use it properly. You understand these periods and aren’t caught off-guard so often. NO ONE knows how astrology works. My best guestimation is this: God has a benevolent plan and intelligently applies His or Her patterns and cycles to all of Creation. The same God-energy that manages the planets, manages us and all things. Astrology allows us to read His or Her Astro-clock as the planets provide our best, time-tested standard of regulated, measurable motion. Clear as mud? You may go to your next class.

Next month we ask Kid Astro: What going to happen during my “Saturn-return?” I hear it’s going to be really bad. (That’s what Rick was told 35 years ago.)

Void-of-Course Moons are periods every few days anywhere from a few minutes to several hours where you are discouraged from launching projects. It’s kind of like sailing a boat and there just isn’t any wind. For more information on this subject, visit my earlier newsletter: www.starself.com/newsletter2.html
